Certifying the functional safety of stationary and mobile robots on wheels is already a major challenge for developers and manufacturers. In principle, previously programmed behavior can still be monitored and stopped if necessary. The safety architecture and certification of AI-controlled robots and humanoids with legs raises the bar to a new level: for the first time, the robot itself decides what it does in detail on the basis of an abstract command. This workshop provides an overview of the state of the art and the latest developments in the field of robot safety, presents best practices and gives an outlook on future technologies and approaches that will enable universally intelligent humanoid robots that are intrinsically safe.
